January, a list:
Busy weekends at work still, itching for a cigarette, itching for Spring.
Assumptions will taint my mood, yet I still won’t mention anything at all.
More and regular movement, my Health app congratulates me.
Keeping everything tidy to keep myself sane.
Seeing friends for an hour is an hour well spent.
Managed to get a new shelf on my wall. Got some posters up. The flat is coming together nicely.
Did the MBTI test again, it’s the same result from last year: INFJ-T.
Brought cat treats, he thanks me by burying his little nose into my cheek, my hair.
Writing, the process:
A lot of character notes.
Outlining, again.
Changing Point of view from scratch, flying at one tree from different angles.
Playlists that make me feel cinematic while writing.
Café sessions on Sunday mornings, noons, until afternoon.
Looking up words.
Reading, staring at a book cover.
Forgetting the time.
Consumed, whole:
Past Lives
The Boy And The Heron
Castaway Diva
Babel
“That's just what translation is, I think. That's all speaking is. Listening to the other and trying to see past your own biases to glimpse what they're trying to say. Showing yourself to the world, and hoping someone else understands.”
― R.F. Kuang, Babel
The Secret History
“It's a very Greek idea, and a very profound one. Beauty is terror. Whatever we call beautiful, we quiver before it. And what could be more terrifying and beautiful, to souls like the Greeks or our own, than to lose control completely? To throw off the chains of being for an instant, to shatter the accident of our mortal selves?”
― Donna Tartt, The Secret History
“…the rain is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh upon the glass and listen for reply…”
— Edna St. Vincent Millay
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
— Anaïs Nin
